I had the opportunity to knock another one off the list and figured I might as well. I’d seen L.A. Confidential before, but it was awhile ago. I certainly remembered liking it, but since I saw it what’s probably near 10 years ago it was good to see it again. And right after watching it, I remember exactly why I liked it.
It’s a super intricate, twisty, winding, interlacing story. And it’s just super well acted, written, and produced. I watched it with my dad and he said during the movie, “This is bringing me back to my childhood.” That’s how engrossing and how fantastic the sets, sites, sounds, and mood are in this movie. Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, and Kevin Spacey anchor the movie with excellent performances. I have to imagine that in any other year it would’ve won the Academy Award for Best Picture, but it was up against a juggernaut, Titanic.
It’s a story of police corruption that weaves several plotlines together seamlessly, I won’t give away anything else because it’s just going to give away parts of the movie and if you haven’t seen it, you really should.
Two thumbs straight up in the air. Are we seeing a trend here? Maybe they’re the top 250 for a reason.
